About The Position

The Journeyman 1-HVAC is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining systems or structures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing guidance to other service techs. This role involves interpreting blueprints, coordinating job schedules, installing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, performing system start-ups, and using hand and power tools. The position requires knowledge of jobsite safety, the ability to oversee work activities, provide guidance to junior technicians, and work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes.
  • Valid journeyman's license or certification in the relevant specialty trade.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry preferred and hands on field experience in commercial refrigeration, electrical and/or fixtures construction.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and machinery related to the trade.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Regularly required to walk and stand for long periods, hear, drive, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, use hands and fingers, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support by interpreting blueprints as needed by foreman to ensure a timely and quality completion of the project.
  • Provides support by coordinating and following job schedules; i.e., labor hours, and material costs.
  • Install heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, including ductwork, thermostats, air handlers, and refrigeration units.
  • Perform system start-ups and ensure proper functioning of installed systems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and good mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of jobsite safety, ability to oversee work activities to ensure safe work practices and safety rule compliance.
  • Provide guidance to junior technicians.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
