Requirements

  • Journeyperson or Red Seal Electrician certification.
  • Rigid pipe installation experience
  • Drilling rig systems and components experience
  • Absolute reliability (on time, every day), a strong work ethic, and a professional attitude under pressure.
  • Must possess the physical stamina to stand, climb ladders, and maneuver through industrial or rig spaces for extended shifts in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Drilling rig construction or service experience
  • Safety tickets (Fall Protection, AWP, First Aid)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair AC & DC Drilling Rig: Generators, generator load distribution systems, power distribution, motor starters, motor soft starters, motors, Programmable Logic Controllers, Electronic and Electrical on Top Drive Units, lighting circuits, electronic circuits on Caterpillar engines, air condition units, and electronic systems controlling hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Make sure that all Electrical Safety Protocols are being followed, including Lock Out Tag Out, while working on Electrical Equipment.
  • Install and wire in new and upgraded electrical equipment following prints and schematics.
  • Conduct daily, electrical inspections on all area drilling rigs to safety standards, prepare reports with supporting pictures of discrepancies.
  • Respond to immediate electrical hazards, exercise stop work when necessary, and notify the appropriate personnel of existing hazards.
  • Prepare parts list, order parts, and repair equipment discrepancies.
  • Must have the ability to be self-driven and work independently
