About The Position

SUMMARY: The Journeyman Engineer will work directly with the Government personnel in meeting the engineering needs of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
  • Three (3) years of experience dealing with the design, engineering, test and evaluation of weapon systems components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Solid foundation in the principles and practices of aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of T&E methodologies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to use test equipment and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills, essential for success in a T&E team environment.
  • Proven ability to think critically and solve complex problems within the T&E process.
  • DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.

Nice To Haves

  • Navy and/or Marine Corps related experience preferred.
  • Experience with specific weapons systems or T&E programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering principles and practices to support the instrumentation planning for the Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) of weapons systems.
  • Attends instrumentation, data collection and processing meetings where test program requirements are defined and assists in the development of pre- and post-test accuracy statements.
  • Evaluates instrumentation performance under varying environmental conditions and new or modified operating conditions or configurations.
  • Designs strategies and plan instrumentation positioning that enable data acquisition efforts while projecting instrumentation from the hazards created during the conduct of laboratory and field tests.
  • Provides Data Acquisition inputs to Test Plans including specifying traceability of all data requirements to specific test objectives.
  • Performs project work through knowledge of engineering practices and policies, and to devise new approaches to resolve problems.
  • Operates with general instructions in an independent mode and receives guidance on special problems or when requested.
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, and makes minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Provides independent and professional support on portions of complex projects.
  • Reviews specific assignment objectives, approaches, and possible solutions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Independently performs a project assignment that involves complex features and can be guided by codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline.
  • Analyzes and/or evaluates the results of an analysis using techniques prescribed by senior engineers or supervisors.
  • Accomplishes tasks of which require investigation of many variables.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in software development, hardware integration, and system design.
  • Solves engineering problems and manage solutions effectively.
  • Works with team members and other professionals to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Creates technical reports and documentation to communicate project progress and outcomes.
  • Engages in ongoing education and training to stay updated with industry trends and technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
