About The Position

The purpose of your role as a Journeyman Electrician is to assemble, plan, route, install, and repair wiring and other electrical components and equipment necessary to install engineered control and security systems. You will contribute to the desired safety and work culture of the organization. This role involves working from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment, and you will be responsible for personal and team safety on jobs, which may include pre-task planning and toolbox talks. You will also assist with preparing completed job as-built documentation and complete and submit labor and expense reports and paperwork in a timely, complete, and accurate manner. Maintaining assigned equipment and literature, and if a company vehicle is provided, maintaining the vehicle and inventory necessary for efficient job completion, are also key aspects of this role. You will monitor assigned jobs for changes in materials or equipment and notify your supervisor, and may provide job material requests to your supervisor as needed. Additionally, you will examine project plans, specifications, and submittal documentation, reviewing them with the Project Manager to gain a complete project understanding. You will prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. You are expected to maintain basic product knowledge, procedures, and methods, and continuously learn more advanced product applications. Staying up-to-date on company installation standards, safety training, and current building codes as they pertain to the scope of work is crucial. You will manage your own backlog to ensure timely and accurate job completion and keep your supervisor informed of job status, elevating problems as needed. You will also mentor and train Controls Installation Specialist I.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferred in Electrical Construction or a related field OR 2-4 years of equivalent experience
  • 2 Years experience and/or training in the electrical field
  • 2 years of using test equipment to include multi-meters and digital analyzers
  • Proficient in use/knowledge of Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring and equipment based on job specifications and local codes
  • Connect wires to electrical components as needed for a complete and operational system
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring or equipment using testing devices, such as ohmmeters or voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as ammeters
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
  • Responsible for personal and team safety on jobs. May include pre-task planning and tool box talks.
