About The Position

Join GDIT as a Lead Journeyman Electrician supporting our Base Infrastructure Modernization program. This role involves planning and executing electrical installations for new construction, performing maintenance and repair of existing electrical systems, and troubleshooting electrical issues. The position requires ensuring all work complies with electrical codes and regulations, reading blueprints, and installing/maintaining electrical components. A key aspect of this role is mentoring and supervising apprentice electricians, preparing daily work reports, and accurately tracking materials. The work environment can be indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions, with significant travel required to Air Force Bases. Physical demands may include lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces. The role also requires adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License Required
  • Minimum of 4-5+ years of experience as a Lead Journeyman Electrician in DoW background
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team-in leadership capacity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Secret clearance or the ability to obtain secret level clearance.
  • US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute electrical installations for new construction projects.
  • Communicate with site and team leads to maximize production.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of existing electrical systems.
  • Support contract and in house crews in multiple work locations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Install, maintain, and test electrical systems and components, including conduit, wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, ground systems and other electrical equipment.
  • Conduct resistance testing and documentation of existing ground systems.
  • Conduct power panel load testing and document results.
  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders and provide updates focused on electrical job performance and needs.
  • As a lead-mentor and supervise apprentice electricians, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit daily work reports detailing completions, materials and delays.
  • Accurate tracking of used and needed material supporting site needs.
