About The Position

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Delivery & Operations Division – Region 1 Electric Crew in Clackamas is seeking a licensed Electrician for multiple positions. This role involves maintaining and improving the electrical systems that ensure the safety and efficiency of Oregon's highways. The position supports ODOT's mission to provide a safe and reliable transportation system and serves communities across Washington, Multnomah, Clackamas, and Hood River counties. Requirements

  • A General Journeyman Electrical license. A copy of your license must be attached to your application form.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 70 pounds, bending, stooping and sitting in a vehicle for long periods.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Maximum 45 minute response time to 9200 SE Lawnfield Rd, Clackamas 97015 for emergency call-outs.
  • Possess a current, valid commercial driver's license B (CDL-B) with no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire a class B within 60 days of hire.
  • A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required.
  • Pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working different work schedules based on business needs.
  • Experience working on traffic signals, highway illumination, motors/motor controls, generators, or conduits.
  • Experience with conflict management, oversight responsibilities and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with workplace safety and employee safety.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical equipment that is overhead, on poles with a height up to 110 feet or is underground.
  • Maintain traffic signal hardware.
  • Maintain variable message signs.
  • Maintain roadway video/camera systems.
  • Maintain portable light plants and generators.
  • Perform extensions, modifications and repairs to branch circuits in and around all ODOT facilities.
  • Maintain lighting fixtures, including on bridges (LED, HPS, Fluorescent, etc.).
  • Maintain drawbridge controls and related circuitry.
  • Maintain motor controls for shop equipment, including air compressors, overhead doors, fuel pumps, ventilation, rock crushers, storm water pumps and HVAC.
  • Participate in team development and train apprentice electricians.
  • Work outdoors on a year-round basis in all weather conditions, often in close proximity to heavy highway traffic.
  • Work on structures of high elevation such as bridges, light towers and buildings.
  • Be available to work any time, 24/7, including holidays and respond to emergencies.
