About The Position

Koniag Operations Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Journeyman Electrician with a Top-Secret security clearance to support KOS and our government customer in Charleston, SC. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. Koniag Operations Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment at our facility in Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Journeyman Electrical License, demonstrate deep knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices, and have the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for performing a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services to ensure electrical systems and equipment operate safely and efficiently. This position requires technical expertise, adherence to electrical codes, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program or technical training
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (state-issued)
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience as a licensed electrician performing installation, maintenance, and repair work
  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), state and local electrical codes, and OSHA safety regulations
  • Expertise in electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex electrical issues
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, circuit analyzers, and amp probes
  • Knowledge of electrical installation techniques, proper wiring methods, and conduit bending
  • Understanding of three-phase power systems, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing high-quality electrical work
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks in various environmental conditions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and other trades
  • Commitment to safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures
  • Ability to work various shifts, respond to emergency calls, and provide on-call support as needed
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in federal government facilities or supporting government contracts
  • Experience working in secure or classified environments with clearance requirements
  • Master Electrician License or ability to obtain
  • Certifications in specialized electrical systems (fire alarm, security systems, building automation)
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and energy management systems
  • Experience with fiber optic installation and termination
  • Training in arc flash safety and NFPA 70E electrical safety standards
  • Experience with photovoltaic (solar) systems or renewable energy technologies
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience mentoring or supervising apprentice electricians

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components throughout the facility
  • Perform electrical installations including wiring, conduit systems, panels, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, and circuit breakers
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications to execute installations and repairs
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems using testing equipment such as multimeters, voltage testers, and circuit analyzers
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and prevent equipment failure
  • Repair and replace defective electrical components, wiring, and fixtures in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes
  • Install and maintain emergency power systems, generators, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems
  • Perform electrical work on motors, transformers, distribution panels, and control systems
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components
  • Respond to emergency electrical issues and power outages, providing timely diagnosis and repair
  • Coordinate with other trades and contractors on electrical installations and facility projects
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects
  • Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed to maintain a safe working environment
  • Mentor and provide guidance to apprentice electricians and helpers as needed
