Requirements

  • Red Seal Electrician certification
  • Experience as a Journeyman/Journeyperson Electrician
  • Experience with building electrical systems, panels, lighting, and emergency systems
  • Possess a valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract
  • Effective communication both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well independently under pressure in a busy environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to travel across the Winnipeg region

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties
  • Troubleshoot and repair lighting, outlets, breakers, panels, and other electrical components
  • Maintain a supply of regularly used electrical parts and tools, ordering replenishment as necessary.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on electrical wiring, lighting, fire alarm systems, and other systems.
  • Respond promptly to work orders and emergency electrical issues to ensure tenant safety and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment and recommend effective repair solutions.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards
  • Conduct inspections of electrical systems to identify hazards, deficiencies, or code violations
  • Upgrade or retrofit electrical systems during renovations, tenant improvements, or capital projects.
  • Coordinate with site managers, maintenance technicians, contractors, etc
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, inspections completed, and permits obtained
  • Safely operate tools, equipment, and lifts in accordance with workplace safety policies
  • Provide technical guidance or basic training to maintenance staff when required
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support after hours or emergency service needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in mechanical rooms and job sites
  • Respond to service calls related to electrical systems
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques
