About The Position

US Facilities, Inc. is seeking an Electrician for a project in Southeast Virginia. The role involves preventive maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical/mechanical and digital tunnel and bridge systems equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical theory, methods, materials, tools, and systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical components up to 480 VAC 3 phase systems. The electrician will be responsible for maintaining electrical wiring systems, reading blueprints and schematics, diagnosing electrical problems, and ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code and Industry Standards. The job also includes operating and maintaining tools and equipment, fabricating electrical parts, estimating project costs, and performing maintenance on electrical load centers and distribution systems. Experience with traffic monitoring and control systems is a plus. The role requires effective communication skills and the ability to work in a bucket truck. This is an essential position that may require work during emergency situations, including inclement weather and disaster response.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of field electrical experience performing preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial electrical components.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical components up to and including 480 VAC 3 phase systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems used in the electrical trade.
  • Experience utilizing electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Must have an active Journeyman or Masters Electrician License from DPOR in the state of VA.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • DMV records check is required.
  • Pre-employment drug screen is required.
  • Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in and/or knowledgeable of traffic monitoring and control systems.
  • Ability to operate and perform work in a bucket truck.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical/mechanical and digital tunnel and bridge systems equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components up to and including 480 VAC 3 phase systems.
  • Maintain electrical wiring system and components in accordance with the provisions of the National Electrical Code and Industry Standards.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Diagnose cause of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair.
  • Inspect electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance actions.
  • Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses; make rough sketches; estimate cost, time and materials of electrical work.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, isolate and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
  • Maintain, test and repair electrical equipment for safety and efficiency; plan the layout and wiring of new or existing installations.
  • Fabricate electrical parts; inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable exterior and interior safety codes and regulations.
  • Inspect related work performed by contractors; estimate cost, time and materials for electrical projects; participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop.
  • Clean, maintain and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical load centers and distribution systems.
  • Analyze electrical plant operational characteristics and make recommendations to correct deficiencies.
  • Respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or USF Senior Project Manager.
