About The Position

As a Journeyman Electrician, you’ll play a critical role in the electrical installation and commissioning of utility-scale solar and wind energy systems. This hands-on position involves working outdoors in dynamic environments, interpreting electrical schematics, installing conduit and wiring, setting up inverters and transformers, and ensuring all systems meet code and safety standards. This work is performed under a Project Labor Agreement. This position will be filled through union referral. Applying candidates will only be considered in the event the union is unable to provide a qualified referral. Candidates may be required to work under union terms and conditions. Wisconsin is a Right to Work state.

Requirements

  • A state-issued Wisconsin journeyman electrician license or reciprocating state (Iowa); OR equivalent combination of education and experience with willingness to obtain journeyman license (prior to offer)
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screen
  • Willingness to travel and relocate to the job site (100% travel)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working on renewable energy projects or large-scale construction projects
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Substation experience
  • Forklift, skid steer, mini excavator, trencher, and/or manlift experience

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain conduit, grounding, motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment, and components
  • Ensure compliance with design drawings, electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  • Set major equipment including breakers, switches, instrument transformers, reactors, and capacitor banks
  • Other labor-related responsibilities
  • Working outdoors for extended periods of times in various weather conditions
