About The Position

Supports the 153d Airlift Wing’s facilities, including 17 main habitable buildings totaling 400,000 square feet of heated space. The role involves maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and upgrading electrical distribution, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems to provide critical protection of C-130 aircraft and building occupants. This position requires knowledge of electrical code, building code, and safe work practices. The incumbent will also be responsible for installing new power and lighting circuits, generator and automatic switchgear systems, and any other necessary electrical systems. This includes calculating, redesigning, and reconfiguring areas to suit new occupant demands, estimating time and materials, and monitoring, programming, and maintaining fire alarm systems. Troubleshooting fire alarm systems, maintaining lightning protection systems (LPS), and reviewing electrical projects, blueprints, and submittals are also key functions. The role involves working with engineers and contractors, assisting other trades, and providing technical expertise. A security clearance must be acquired and maintained. Participation in snow removal as a member of the snow team is required. Computer knowledge including iEMS, Builder, Word, Excel, time sheets, and ordering parts is necessary.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical principles and practices for maintaining a functioning electrical system to include high voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of specialized systems such as fire alarms and security systems.
  • Ability to work with mechanical systems such as generators, controls, and motors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot most electrical systems in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of the electrical trade's tools, materials, methods, and practices.
  • Education as required by the licensing board.
  • Journeyman's Electrician License.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Must be able to work in tight spaces.
  • A valid Wyoming driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to report to the base on short notice for emergency maintenance and snow removal.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman level licensing.
  • Ability to show licensing in the State of Wyoming.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electrical components through preventative maintenance of systems and equipment.
  • Repair or replace lighting fixtures and electrical devices.
  • Perform advanced maintenance and programming of fire alarm systems and complex electrical components.
  • Install new power and lighting circuits, generator and automatic switchgear systems, and any electrical system necessary.
  • Calculate, redesign, and reconfigure existing areas to suit new occupant demands.
  • Estimate time and materials to complete projects efficiently.
  • Monitor, program, and maintain fire alarm systems through a regularly scheduled program.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm systems and add or remove components as needed.
  • Maintain the lightning protection systems (LPS) of critical facilities on base.
  • Repair and replace broken and worn parts in the lightning protection systems.
  • Perform and record annual physical and visual inspections of lightning protection systems.
  • Review blueprints and submittals of new facilities and remodel projects.
  • Read project specifications and review blueprints at various stages.
  • Provide input on code requirements, electrical design, and equipment layout or placement.
  • Work with engineers and construction contractors to troubleshoot design deficiencies.
  • Assist other trades with multi-trade tasks such as replacing pumps, installing air conditioning or heating units, or general labor duties.
  • Provide technical expertise when asked about equipment requiring multiple inputs from several trades.
  • Participate in snow removal as required/member of snow team.
  • Utilize computer knowledge for iEMS, Builder, Word, Excel, time sheets, and ordering parts.
