About The Position

The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for effectively and efficiently maintaining, renovating, and repairing the electrical system and equipment of the district. This includes job layouts, blueprint reading, maintaining a working inventory of supplies, implementing preventative maintenance procedures, and practicing energy conservation. The role involves performing preventative maintenance on various electrical equipment, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, and assisting in the design of renovation and upgrade projects.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of experience in troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing commercial electrical systems.
Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and national codes and regulations.
Current journeyman’s or master’s license.
Maintain current/valid driver’s license.
Ability to communicate, orally and in writing with others.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of fire alarm systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative maintenance on district electrical equipment including but not limited to panels, disconnects, switch gear, motors, ventilators, emergency lighting equipment, circulating pumps, scoreboards, hot carts, public address systems, fire alarms.
Provides information to Architects, Engineers, and Contractors.
Troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems for water heaters, Bradley hand washers, fire door sentronics, HVAC AC units and exhaust fans.
Performs work to accepted trade standards.
Works and communicates effectively with others.
Reads and interprets diagrams on communications equipment, fire alarm systems, clock and bell systems.
Troubleshoots and repairs electrical panels, and lighting systems/lighting controls.
Prepares recommendations on layout and design for repaired and installation of equipment and service.
Assists in the design of renovation, upgrade and remodeling projects.
Works jointly with Lead Electrician to coordinate scheduling from the daily work order system and other duties.
Performs locates as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
