About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in medium-voltage (MV) cable terminations to support a power & utility project. This role focuses on the safe, precise installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of MV power cables, typically ranging from 5kV to 35kV, in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician license (state or reciprocal, as applicable)
  • 3+ years of experience performing MV cable terminations
  • Proven experience with MV termination kits (Richards, 3M, Hubbell, Raychem, Elastimold, Prysmian, etc.)
  • Production experience working in operating industrial or power-generation facilities, including work performed around energized equipment in accordance with NFPA 70E and site safety procedures.
  • Solid understanding of MV cable construction (EPR, XLPE), grounding and bonding systems, and stress cones and shield continuity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and site-specific training.

Nice To Haves

  • Substation, utility-scale solar, BESS, or industrial power experience
  • Experience with utility acceptance testing
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Construction)
  • NFPA 70E training
  • Experience working around energized or high-risk environments (per safety protocols)

Responsibilities

  • Perform medium-voltage (MV) cable terminations and splices (5kV–35kV), including heat-shrink, cold-shrink, and taped terminations for indoor and outdoor applications at switchgear, transformers, pad-mounts, and substations.
  • Prepare MV cables including shielding, concentric neutral, jacket removal, and stress control.
  • Install and terminate MV cables per manufacturer instructions, project drawings, and specifications.
  • Apply Richards, 3M, Hubbell, TE, etc. certified techniques for MV installations.
  • Conduct and assist with testing and commissioning, including insulation resistance (megger) testing and Hi-pot / VLF testing (as required).
  • Read and interpret one-lines, electrical drawings, and termination details.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Maintain proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, torque values, and proper grounding.
  • Coordinate with foremen, engineers, testing crews, and utility representatives.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
