About The Position

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman Data Architect to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations. In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement, helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success. This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Requirements

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 4-8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or related roles.
  • Experience supporting data architecture, data modeling, or data engineering activities.
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience integrating data architectures with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience working with data platforms and tools (e.g., SQL, Spark, Kafka, or similar).
  • Experience supporting data governance or metadata management concepts.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in customer support and engagement initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • 6+ years of experience in data architecture and engineering.
  • Experience operating within Agile or SAFe frameworks supporting enterprise systems.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data governance frameworks.
  • Experience designing and implementing data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics frameworks.
  • Experience defining enterprise data models, metadata strategies, and lineage documentation.
  • Experience with data pipeline development and data quality monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data platforms across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML model pipelines and feature engineering frameworks.
  • Experience with data cataloging, lineage, and governance tools.
  • Relevant cloud or data architecture certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Support design and implementation of data architecture solutions including data models, schemas, and data integration patterns.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-level data strategies and architectures to enhance data acquisition and transformation.
  • Support the design, build, and maintenance of core data infrastructure and pipelines for the platform.
  • Assist in defining and maintaining enterprise data architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Support development of data pipelines and data flows across multiple systems and environments.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to ensure alignment between data architecture and implementation.
  • Assist in design and implementation of data storage solutions (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses, and distributed data systems).
  • Support data governance efforts including metadata management, data lineage, and access control documentation.
  • Contribute to development of data catalogs and data discovery capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain a robust data governance framework, including policy development and compliance enforcement.
  • Support integration of data architectures into DevSecOps pipelines and system development lifecycle processes.
  • Troubleshoot data integration and architecture issues and support performance optimization.
  • Document data architecture designs, standards, and processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding known issues and new features.
  • Manage user access and permissions for data tools, ensuring security and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and a centralized knowledge repository for data operations.
  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
