About The Position

The Journeyman Controls Electrician installs temperature-control and building automation systems (BAS) at customer jobsites as part of LONG Building Intelligence, which specializes in building automation and temperature-control solutions. The position is unionized, with pay in accordance with local union rates; benefits are provided by the union. The work involves installing and coordinating controls systems, interpreting drawings, reporting discrepancies, and supporting apprentice electricians. It includes consistent in-state travel to jobsites and may involve inside and outside work, construction-site hazards, inclement weather, heights, tight spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Journeyman Electrical License.
Familiarity with building codes and safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, blueprints, and DDC/BAS controls drawings.
Good mathematical skills.
Willingness to work overtime, varied shift hours, and travel as needed.

Nice To Haves

Installation experience with Distech, Tridium, KMC, or other DDC/BAS controls.
OSHA 30 certification.
CPR/First Aid certificate.

Responsibilities

Install controllers, field devices, electrical cable, conduit systems (including EMT, GRC, and PVC), copper tubing, and plastic tubing neatly and skillfully.
Maintain familiarity with installation materials and control devices, including their functions, uses, and proper mounting and installation.
Work independently and coordinate job installation and completion with onsite personnel; seek guidance before beginning unfamiliar tasks.
Report discrepancies between LONG drawings and mechanical or control equipment onsite.
Attend product training and information classes to maintain and enhance control knowledge.
Update Bluebeam to capture design changes.
Provide training and support to apprentice electricians.
Attend jobsite coordination meetings.
Perform other assigned duties or tasks.
