About The Position

The Journey Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery in a heavy industrial or plant environment. This role requires a high level of technical skill, the ability to work independently, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Journeyman-level experience in industrial mechanical maintenance
Proven experience working in refineries, chemical plants, power plants, or similar heavy industrial environments
Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
Valid driver’s license (may be required depending on site)
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good communication and teamwork skills
Time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, conveyors, turbines, valves, and rotating machinery
Diagnose mechanical issues using tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime
Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery and components to manufacturer or site specifications
Align, install, and calibrate mechanical systems and components
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Assist in equipment installation, upgrades, and shutdown/turnaround projects
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports
Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures
Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance teams, and supervisors to meet production goals
