Journey Maintenance/Construction Specialist
About The Position
The Utah Department of Corrections is looking for a Journey Maintenance/Carpenter to perform repairs and complete jobs in various trades including woodworking/cabinetry, drywall repair, painting, flooring, roof repair, windows, and overhead doors. The role involves operating, maintaining, calibrating, and adjusting specialized equipment, as well as troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and machinery. This position requires maintaining accurate records and logs. Carpentry duties may also include grounds work such as mowing and snow removal. The position may be subject to 24/7 emergency call out and is not public safety certified.
Requirements
- Maintain and/or repair tools and equipment
- Principles and practices of facilities operations, maintenance, and management
- Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally
- Arrange, coordinate, or schedule time and details agency objectives, organization, structure and mission
- Run, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment
- Find, gather and collect information or data
- Operate applicable specialized equipment
- Establish, organize and/or maintain files
- Valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a).
Responsibilities
- Make repairs to or complete jobs in the following trades: Woodworking/Cabinetry, Drywall repair, Painting, Flooring - Commercial carpet squares and tiles, Roof repair, Windows, Overhead doors.
- Operates, maintains, calibrates, and adjusts specialized equipment.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems, makes adjustments, repairs, and/or performs preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment, machinery, etc.
- Maintains accurate records and logs.
- Carpentry duties could also include helping with grounds work including mowing and snow removal.
- May be subject to 24/7 emergency call out.
