About The Position

Join Our Team as a Journey Level Saw Filer at Weyerhaeuser Longview Lumber! Are you a skilled Saw Filer looking to take your career to the next level? Weyerhaeuser’s Longview Lumber facility in Longview, Washington is seeking a Journey Level Saw Filer to join our team of dedicated professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic, safety-focused environment where your expertise will be valued and your contributions will make a real impact. This is a bargaining unit position represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Woodworkers Local Lodge W536. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work multiple shifts, including nights and weekends. This position is designated by WY as a safety-sensitive position. Please be advised that due to the designation of this position as safety-sensitive, you will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of journey-level filing experience in a sawmill environment.
  • Proven leadership in mill safety practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and adapt in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Commitment to safety and producing high-quality work.
  • Willingness to learn and work with new technologies.
  • Fitting round and band saws.
  • Calibration and maintenance of filing shop equipment.
  • Tensioning and leveling saws.
  • Hard tipped alloy welding.
  • Understanding of planned/preventative maintenance.
  • Personal tools are the responsibility of the successful candidate.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with internal quality control and machine alignment procedures (preferred).
  • Experience with CNC equipment and basic computer skills (a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Expertly fit and maintain round and band saws.
  • Operate filing shop equipment for calibration and maintenance.
  • Perform hard tipped alloy welding.
  • Tension and level saws to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist with saw change services.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, inspecting equipment for wear, damage, and safety risks.
  • Apply knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance processes.
