About The Position

Maintain high levels of production by minimizing downtime by providing both predictive and preventive maintenance on all equipment. Brings forth issues and resolves them through formal action planning. Works closely with all members of the Maintenance, Production, & Management Teams.

Requirements

  • Current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician card.
  • Familiarity with the mill electrical system (MCC’s, disconnects, machines, and conveying systems).
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Installations by code.
  • Make prints of installations completed.
  • Ability to install conduit level, straight, according to code or better.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair 120 vac to 480 vac control power.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage AC and DC.
  • Ability to troubleshoot power supplies of all types.
  • Ability to troubleshoot 3-phase power, MCC’s, motors, relay logic and aux contacts.
  • Good understanding of machine center control / electrical systems.
  • Allen Bradley PLC program schools.
  • Knowledge of timers, counters, basic ladder logic, and force functions.
  • Current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician Supervisor card.
  • Excellent hand eye coordination.
  • Continuous use of vision/hearing.
  • Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.
  • Self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and make necessary decisions.
  • Must use 14-step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery.
  • Must use proper body mechanics.
  • Must use proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection).
  • Must be aware of and always communicate with co-workers.
  • Required to read and write during safety training.

  • PLC programming / Frequency drive classes once per year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide both predictive and preventive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Identify and resolve issues through formal action planning.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, and Management Teams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including MCCs, disconnects, machines, and conveying systems.
  • Install conduit level, straight, according to code or better.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 120 vac to 480 vac control power.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low voltage AC and DC.
  • Troubleshoot power supplies of all types (low voltage, multi voltage, constant voltage).
  • Troubleshoot 3-phase power, MCCs, motors, relay logic, and aux contacts.
  • Understand and work with Allen Bradley PLC systems, including timers, counters, basic ladder logic, and force functions.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Work in confined spaces as required.
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned by supervisor for production and cleaning purposes.
  • Understand plant optimizer systems, including changing configuration files and backing up systems.
  • Understand plant production and downtime report systems, including changing/adding information and backing up systems.
  • Understand HMI systems, including changing/adding/removing information and backing up systems.
  • Understand PanelView and MessageView systems, including changing/adding/removing information and backing up systems.
  • Understand the Plant PLC network and how to change it.
  • Layout and complete moderately complex projects including conduit layout, wire sizing, control wiring, and MCC & motor sizing.
  • Monitor and report electrical maintenance performance to Electrical Department Supervisor.
  • Work with controls technicians to schedule electrical personnel on projects or mill modifications to reduce costs and improve knowledge.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and lost recovery opportunities and develop action plans.
