About The Position

The WIN Television Network is seeking an experienced journalist for its WIN News service, based in Orange. This role offers the opportunity to work in a regional newsroom, take ownership of the market, and report on a variety of topics including the environment, sport, and politics. The journalist will be responsible for researching, compiling, and producing high-quality news stories for weekday news bulletins, liaising with editors and camera operators to meet deadlines and maintain high standards. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday.

Requirements

A university qualification in journalism with at least one year experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings winning bulletin
Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community
Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law
Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management
Capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships
Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility
Positive work ethic, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes
Valid Australian working rights

Responsibilities

Researching, compiling and producing high quality news stories for weekday news bulletins
Liaising with editors and camera operators to ensure bulletins meet deadlines and are of the highest standards
Reporting on a variety of rounds including environment, sport, and politics
Identifying story opportunities
Operating with initiative and flexibility
