About The Position

Knight Foundation is seeking a Journalism Intern - Convenings & Audience Development to join the foundation for Summer 2026. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that advances Knight Foundation's mission to support informed and engaged communities. In this role, the Journalism Intern will support the journalism team's 2026 strategy, with a focus on convenings, audience development and grants management. The intern will contribute to both planning and execution across multiple initiatives, including events, active grants and early planning for future foundation programming. About the Internship Program Knight Foundation internships are for 10 weeks, running from early June through mid-August. Pay: $20.00 per hour Eligibility: Open to local and non-local students with the legal right to work in the United States. Relocation: Interns are responsible for their own travel and housing costs. Designed as a reciprocal learning experience, Knight Foundation internships provide students with real responsibility, professional development and exposure to the field of philanthropy, while enabling teams to move important projects forward. Interns gain practical skills, confidence and professional networks through project work and organization-wide programming.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate student
  • Academic or professional interest in journalism
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience with or interest in event planning and coordination
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Supporting planning and execution of journalism-related convenings and events hosted by Knight Foundation
  • Assisting with audience-focused programming tied to journalism initiatives
  • Supporting grants management activities, including rubric development and documentation
  • Providing operational and research support for ongoing journalism projects
  • Assisting team directors with planning, coordination and follow-up activities
  • Supporting early planning and programming efforts related to Knight Foundation's future journalism initiatives
