Requirements
- Good physical condition and an interest in manual work
- Team spirit, autonomy, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to work in varying conditions (weather and demanding environments)
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid forklift operator certification (required)
- Knowledge of safety practices related to cargo handling
Nice To Haves
- Experience in material handling or in a port/maritime environment (an asset)
- Experience operating a forklift
Responsibilities
- Safely handling goods, including blocking materials during receiving, loading, and unloading operations
- Performing loading, unloading, securing, and unsecuring of cargo
- Cutting, preparing, and adjusting wood to optimize the positioning and stability of shipments
- Attaching, detaching, and securing cargo according to established procedures
- Working in ship holds, on the dock, or in the yard depending on operational needs
- Safely operating lifting equipment (forklift and wheel loader)
- Providing daily operational support and performing various manual handling tasks
- Following instructions from the superintendent or team leader
- Reporting any abnormalities, equipment damage, or hazardous situations
- Maintaining clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Strictly adhering to health and safety rules at all times
