About The Position

The Ascendancy Group is seeking a Curriculum Developer and Instructor for the Joint Targeting School at Dam Neck Annex, NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. This role involves developing, updating, and delivering training for the Joint Targeting Staff Course and related programs used across the Joint Targeting Enterprise. Responsibilities include creating web-based training modules, supporting in-residence instruction, ensuring courseware aligns with current doctrine and standards, managing student data, validating learning objectives, and contributing to curriculum development for various targeting-related courses. The position requires an active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility and plays a key role in maintaining high-quality, consistent training across online and classroom environments.

Requirements

  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Demonstrated success in three (3) or more of the following operational areas:
  • At least 4 years' experience in joint training.
  • Experienced and competent in the Joint Targeting Cycle.
  • Graduate of one or more Joint Targeting Staff Courses.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of collateral damage methodology, precedent, procedures, and regulations issued by the DOD, JS, and JS J7.
  • 1 year experience in adult training or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge and experience with Joint and Service doctrine, combat, combat service, combat service support and equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and present briefs for problem resolution.
  • Knowledge and experience with communications and information systems training.
  • Experience in military and national level intelligence gathering techniques and analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience in Joint Doctrine and Chairman's Instructions/Manuals
  • Experience designing and developing interactive web-based learning and blended learning courses.
  • Experience with eLearning and curriculum and courseware authoring for web-based training and education development.
  • At least 3 years' experience as an Instructional Systems Designer in developing complex level interactive courseware.
  • At least 3 years' experience with eLearning practices and technology strategies in a military training environment.
  • At least 3 years' experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Nice To Haves

  • Training and operational experience as a military intelligence officer/non-commissioned officer strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide curriculum development and instructional support for the Joint Targeting Staff courses at Joint Targeting School.
  • Support both in-residence and distance learning versions of the Joint Targeting Staff Course to ensure consistency with military-led instruction and courseware.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with military instructors to maintain familiarity with all Joint Targeting School training materials and methods.
  • Compile, archive, and maintain student demographic data and test scores.
  • Certify learning objectives and provide input, recommendations, and assistance for curriculum development, updates, and revisions.
  • Create, update, and maintain online training modules for web-based Joint Targeting School course offerings.
  • Ensure modules align with established training objectives, instructional design standards, and consistent graphic and formatting conventions.
  • Use NIPR/SIPR Microsoft Teams as a learning management system for delivering online training content.
  • Develop modules that teach Joint Targeting doctrine, fundamentals, and Joint Staff processes associated with the Joint Targeting cycle.
  • Provide curriculum and instructional support for in-person training at Joint Targeting School to maintain content and instructional consistency across delivery methods.
  • Produce and maintain lesson plans, instructor guides, student guides, presentation slides, and job aids that comply with instructional systems design (ISD) principles and published style requirements.
  • Maintain current and accurate course catalogs and pamphlets, aligned to the needs of the Joint Targeting Enterprise.
  • Consult with the Joint Targeting Staff Course Manager and military instructors on broad course development matters, accreditation requirements, and long-term curriculum planning aligned with Joint Publication 3-60, Joint Targeting.
  • Support the DoD Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE) Qualification Program, Combat Assessment (CA) Program, and Weaponeering Applications Program.
  • Consult with Program Managers for CDE, CA, and Weaponeering Applications Courses regarding curriculum development, accreditation requirements, and milestone planning in accordance with the CJCSI 3160.01 series.
