About The Position

SAIC is seeking an experienced Joint Exercise Space Planner at Camp Smith in Hawaii to support the USPACOM J7 Training & Exercises Directorate. The role requires expertise in space operations, space effects, and multi-domain integration to lead Joint exercise planning work groups in incorporating space capabilities, threats, and operational effects into live-force tactical training events across the Indo-Pacific theater. Occasional travel throughout the Pacific and to Service training centers is required. The planner provides subject matter expertise on Joint space operations, capabilities, threat systems, and space-enabled effects; leads and mentors planning teams; coordinates exercise space content with USSPACECOM and SPACE-PAC; and supports live-force training through training aids and enablers such as LVC systems, emitters, tactical space range capabilities, and synthetic space effects. The role advises on space impacts across command and control, targeting, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, communications, navigation, missile warning, and threat characterization. During exercises, the planner may role-play friendly or threat space components and adjust synthetic injects to meet training objectives. The position also ensures space integration is synchronized with other operational domains and maintains awareness of emerging capabilities, threats, and Joint space doctrine.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of related experience; an additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in space operations, Joint operational planning, or multi-domain training.
  • Experience integrating space capabilities and effects into Joint or Service-level exercises.
  • Thorough knowledge of space system capabilities, limitations, threat systems, and operational impacts on tactical forces.
  • Experience on a Combatant Command, Service component, or Joint Staff with responsibilities in space operations, targeting, or multi-domain integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate training objectives into space-enabled exercise designs.
  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be a current U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with USSPACECOM, SPACE-PAC, or Service space operations units.
  • Background in space control, orbital warfare, missile warning, SATCOM, PNT, or space-enabled targeting.
  • Experience with Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) training, synthetic space effects, or tactical space range integration.
  • Prior experience supporting Combatant Command-level exercises or Joint training events.
  • Graduate of a Service space operations schoolhouse or Joint space qualification program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Joint space operations, space capabilities, threat systems, and space-enabled effects relevant to tactical training audiences.
  • Lead and mentor Joint planning teams in integrating space domain considerations into exercise design, scenario development, and training objectives.
  • Coordinate with USSPACECOM and SPACE-PAC to align exercise space injects, effects, and threat portrayals with current doctrine, operational realities, and theater priorities.
  • Support live-force tactical training by integrating training aids and enablers, including LVC systems, emitters, tactical space range capabilities, and synthetic space effects.
  • Advise planners on how space capabilities influence C2, targeting, ISR, communications, navigation, missile warning, and threat characterization during Joint operations.
  • Role-play friendly or threat space components during exercise execution and adjust synthetic space injects to meet training objectives.
  • Synchronize space domain integration with air, maritime, land, cyber, and information operations during Joint exercises.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging space capabilities, threat developments, and Joint space doctrine to keep PACOM exercises aligned with DoD-wide best practices.
