About The Position

The John P. Monahan Gallery is located on the first floor of the Schoenecker Center and features rotating art exhibitions. Hired attendants must regularly check their emails. Applicants should provide their availability during the museum hours listed above (e.g. "I can work from 10-4pm on T/Th and on Saturdays from 12-4pm"), as well as a CV/Resume and Cover Letter.

Requirements

• A friendly and welcoming demeanor.
• Demonstrated punctuality and dependability.
• An interest in art and other cultures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate or doctoral levels.
• Students must be actively enrolled at least part-time in courses for credit.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and work the entirety of their shifts.
• Answer questions, observe visitors, and guard the artwork on display.
• Follow correct procedures for opening and closing the museum.
• Count and record the number of visitors during each shift.
• Direct visitors to information guides, web resources, and contact information for the gallery.
• Follow emergency procedures if needed.
• Notify the curator and, when possible, find another attendant to cover shifts when unable to work.
• Report gallery concerns to the curator.
