The Jockey role involves working in the shipping office, receiving and logging outside drivers, maintaining a CDL-A license, and moving empty and full trailers in the yard to fulfill production schedules. The role requires keeping a running log of dock doors and trailers, reporting trailer status at the end of each shift, and monitoring work for quality, quantity, and safety. It also involves coordinating warehouse staff, accurate and timely reporting of work in process, paperwork, BOLs, and management reporting. The Jockey will report or identify needed maintenance of equipment and machinery, understand SQF, and take action on food safety or quality issues. Support for the operation includes working overtime as needed to maintain production in accordance with the Union contract. The role requires using SAP for shipping & receiving functions and communicating via email with various departments.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Driver’s License
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have at least 6 months of verifiable Yard Switcher experience within the last 3 years
  • Must be flexible and able to work OT when required.
  • Able to pass criminal background and drug screening.
  • Knowledge of USDOT Rules and regulations

Responsibilities

  • Staff shipping office desk and receive/login outside drivers
  • Maintain CDL-A license and move empty and full trailers in yard as required to fulfill production schedules.
  • Keep running log of dock doors and trailers. Report final trailer status at end of each shift.
  • Monitoring work and requirements in terms of quality, quantity, & safety.
  • Coordinating warehouse staff to meet production schedules and objectives.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of work in process and completes all relevant paperwork, BOL’s and management reporting.
  • Reports or Identifies needed maintenance of equipment and machinery necessary to meeting department requirements in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Have an understanding of SQF, responsible to take action to when notified or become aware of any Food Safety or Food Quality issue.
  • Support the operation by working OT as needed to maintain production in accordance with Union contract.
  • Use SAP to provide data for shipping & receiving functions.
  • Communicate via email with Supervisors, Coordinators, Production, Maintenance and Management as needed and required.
