As a Yard Jockey (Switcher), you'll be responsible for safely moving trailers throughout the yard, ensuring equipment is operational, and helping maintain the efficient flow of products across the facility. Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience operating tractor-trailers, yard trucks, or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English or the facility's required language.
  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and detail.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with multiple departments.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Safely move and position trailers throughout the yard to support daily operations.
  • Monitor and maintain trailer and yard temperatures, adding fuel as needed.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the spotter truck and related equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Accurately document trailer movements, fuel usage, and other required records.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse and transportation teams regarding trailer locations and movements.
  • Promptly report any vehicle defects, safety concerns, accidents, traffic violations, or equipment damage.
  • Perform trailer inventory checks and report discrepancies using designated logs and documentation.
  • Complete trailer sanitation and cleanliness tasks as assigned.
  • Support other operational needs to help maintain an organized and efficient yard.
