About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Job Start Estimator to join our Edmonton office. As a full-time Job Start Estimator, you will work with a staff of estimators and Architectural Technologists assisting to ensure budgets accurately reflect material and labour costs to build each of our models. You will be supporting the Senior Estimator and Production Manager with the preparation of accurate and timely proformas on each home sold and built, verifying costs and margin expectations. You pride yourself on expediting the process in your estimating role to minimize time in the office and have the homes in the field and under construction. This is a steppingstone into a future career within Professional Single-Family Estimating.

Requirements

Post secondary certificate or diploma from SAIT/NAIT in Architectural/Estimating Technology or Engineering Technology.
Ability to meet deadlines while providing high-quality work.
Strong computer skills, including competence with MS Office Suite.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Good negotiation skills.

Nice To Haves

Residential construction experience in estimating, pricing options, file preparation for processing to the field is an asset.
Familiar with process involved with managing budgets, options, pricing strategy is an asset.
Ability to analyze and understand the implications of changes to home plans is an asset.
Ability to understand and analyze costing implications of material or product changes to home plans.
ERP experience an asset.
Technology proficiency, including MS Office products, is an asset.

Responsibilities

Highly competent in quality take-offs, following an accurate budget and noting any errors, omissions, or details not consistent with the model.
Assist in providing accurate, detailed, and timely pricing for all price requests from Sales issuing change agreements.
Assist in the review of all Purchase Agreements for accuracy and completeness.
Review and process variance purchase orders to trades and suppliers as necessary.
Support the Construction team throughout all stages of construction by assisting with questions and concerns quickly to solve the challenge.
Be cognizant and aware of trade partner pricing and scope of work in preparing pricing and change agreements.
Understand the process and be able to assist in pricing of all models and options.
As an Estimator, be fully aware of schedules for models and options related to field schedule and use appropriate schedule.
