About The Position

Job Skills Trainers are certified job coaches who work directly with individuals with disabilities. They use structured intervention techniques to help job seekers learn tasks and acquire the necessary skill sets for their desired careers. This role serves as an instructor for pre-Employment Transition Services (pre-ETS) and operates under the supervision of the Community Program Manager or a designated supervisor. The position requires maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all Quality Assurance and HIPAA procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands, including regularly using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear; frequently standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain Job Coach Certification through continuing education hours.
  • Obtain required education hours from Friendship Community Care and other regulatory bodies.
  • Accurately document work hours on timecard, ensuring any hours worked outside the set schedule are pre-approved by a supervisor.
  • Provide oversight for assigned job seekers/clients, prioritizing their health and safety.
  • Serve as an advocate for the job seeker.
  • Drive own vehicle or company vehicle to assist job seekers in getting to and from locations.
  • Serve as an instructor for pre-ETS services.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of FCC/Job Path.
  • Carry First Aid supplies for minor injuries and transport employees/clients with major injuries for appropriate medical attention.
  • Complete written reports of any on-the-job injuries.
  • Complete Task Analysis as needed for clients served.
  • Participate in the job-carving process when seeking employment in the community.
  • Maintain consumers' progress notes daily or as needed on prescribed forms.
  • Maintain consumers' records weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
  • File all information in consumers' records as needed and update as prescribed by funding sources.
