About The Position

Avondale House is seeking energetic, compassionate, and dedicated individuals to join our Adult Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) Day Program as a Life Skills Coach. In this rewarding role, you will support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in developing independence, building meaningful life skills, and actively engaging in their communities. Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or related conditions is required.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required.
  • Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care and medication administration.
  • Most importantly, we are looking for individuals who are compassionate, reliable, and committed to making a difference.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in caregiving, home and community-based services, or direct support roles is preferred.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or alternative communication methods is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Background in behavioral health, social work, psychology, or a related field is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Providing individualized coaching and support with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, household tasks, social skills, and community participation.
  • Implementing engaging activities that promote positive behavior, personal growth, and enrichment.
  • Supporting participants in developing communication skills, social interactions, and community engagement.
  • Assisting with medication administration and monitoring health-related needs in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Collecting and documenting participant progress, behavioral observations, and service outcomes accurately and consistently.
  • Safely transporting participants to activities and community outings while fostering positive and educational experiences.
  • Collaborating with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members to provide individualized, person-centered support.
  • Facilitating skill-building opportunities across a variety of settings to encourage independence, self-advocacy, and confidence.
