This position provides participants with the tools and knowledge to prepare for successful community reentry through employment curriculum and services. In addition, provides group facilitation in areas including cognitive self- change, social skills, problem solving, relationships, and other related issues. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Job Developer, Employment Specialist, or similar position, required.
  • Familiar with community work force needs, public and private agencies, and employment services.
  • Ability to instruct.
  • Ability to maintain positive community relationships.
  • Ability to effectively interface with residents and staff.
  • Ability to motivate and create an atmosphere of enthusiasm toward work ethic.
  • Ability to express thoughts logically, in both written and verbal form using correct grammar.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in order to perform a wide range of duties.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates delivery of cognitive behavioral curriculum in a group setting as needed.
  • Maintains class rosters, attendance records, documentation of progress, and provides completion certificates for Civil World/Skill computer program or other curriculum.
  • Supports the assessment of participant needs and makes referrals to appropriate staff.
  • Aids participants in planning and developing post-release plans and encourages them to assume the responsibility for post-release behaviors and activities.
  • Participates in weekly incentive events earned by the participants.
  • Assists in the coordination of participant program schedules to ensure the criminogenic needs of the participants are met.
  • Maintain computer lab area.
  • Provide employment services to include resume writing, mock interviews, time management, and information on the work environment.
  • Ability to coordinate with outside employment resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
