About The Position

We are seeking a Job Development Manager to build the relationships, systems, and resources that connect participants in our SolarCorps, IBT, and NextGen workforce development programs to meaningful employment opportunities. The Job Development Manager will develop and strengthen relationships with employers, contractors, workforce organizations, and community partners; support participants in navigating career pathways; coordinate employer engagement and workforce events; and strengthen systems that improve job placement, retention, and long-term employment outcomes. The Job Development Manager will report to the VP of Workforce Development and collaborate closely with the National SolarCorps Director, Director of Contractor Services, Workforce Operations Director, regional teams, and other internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in workforce development, job development, employer engagement, job placement, or a related field, with a demonstrated commitment to advancing economic opportunity and reducing barriers to employment.
  • Proven success building and managing partnerships with employers, contractors, community organizations, or workforce partners, particularly in clean energy, construction, skilled trades, or related industries.
  • Experience connecting jobseekers to employment opportunities and supporting individuals through career development and job placement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, remote environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and/or other CRM or workforce development systems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the solar, renewable energy, construction, or skilled trades sectors and their career pathways.

  • Experience using labor market information and employment data to inform workforce strategies.
  • Familiarity with equity-centered workforce development practices and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of systemic barriers affecting access to family-sustaining careers, including transportation, childcare, housing insecurity, and economic inequality.
  • A degree in workforce development, community development, social justice, education, human services, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a national network of employers, contractors, and industry partners in clean energy, solar, construction, skilled trades, and related industries.
  • Develop relationships with workforce boards, chambers of commerce, industry associations, educational institutions, and community organizations to expand employment opportunities.
  • Identify hiring trends, workforce needs, and emerging career pathways and share insights with workforce development and training teams.
  • Promote equitable hiring practices and advocate for increased access to clean energy careers for historically excluded communities.
  • Educate employers about workforce programs, subsidized employment opportunities, hiring incentives, and other resources.
  • Recruit employers to participate in job fairs, hiring events, career days, networking opportunities, and other workforce activities.
  • Provide individualized career coaching and employment support to SolarCorps fellows and other workforce program participants.
  • Connect participants with employment opportunities based on their skills, experience, interests, and career goals.
  • Develop and coordinate work-based learning opportunities, including mentorships, mock interviews, resume reviews, and job shadowing.
  • Maintain career pathway resources and tools that help participants navigate employment opportunities in clean energy and related industries.
  • Build and maintain a network of wraparound service providers and community resources that can help address barriers to employment, including transportation, childcare, housing insecurity, and other basic needs.
  • Coordinate employer engagement for job fairs, hiring events, career days, SolarCorps programming, retreats, and other workforce activities.
  • Manage employer communications, outreach, and event logistics in partnership with regional and national teams.
  • Facilitate connections between participants and employers based on skills, qualifications, and available positions.
  • Follow up with employers and participants to support placements and gather feedback on outcomes.
  • Partner with the Communications team to strengthen ongoing employer outreach through newsletters, social media, and other communications.
  • Convene a national Job Development community of practice to share effective strategies, employer relationships, and labor market insights across regions.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized national employer and contractor database, including regional relationships, hiring information, and industry trends.
  • Strengthen systems for tracking employer engagement, job placements, graduate outcomes, and retention.
  • Use internal employment data and external labor market information to identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from participants and employers to strengthen training, job placement, and employer engagement strategies.
