About The Position

The Job Coach will play an integral role in a dynamic organization, assisting adults in leading active and independent lives. This role is suited for someone who enjoys learning new tasks and taking on a variety of responsibilities within an upbeat, nonprofit environment. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • US work authorization
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class E driver’s license and good driving record
  • Eligibility for MO Highway Patrol Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Certified Job Coach or College of Employment Services through DMH (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Be a critical thinker.
  • Be concise and detail oriented.
  • Must have a positive demeanor.
  • Great customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2(+) year(s) experience working with individuals with Autism and/or related developmental disabilities in an Day Habilitation Program
  • BA/BS in Human Services or another related discipline
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule and proactive planning to meet evolving client and organizational needs.
  • Adapt educational strategies and teaching methods to align with each client's unique learning style.
  • Foster and promote a cooperative working environment utilizing Sherwood standards of effective communication, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
  • Complete assessments on vocational interests/goals, individual needs and abilities, and provide professional development in preparation for the individual to enter the workforce.
  • Independently create and implement Action Plans.
  • Coach individuals in applying for jobs, attending interviews, and completing on-boarding paperwork.
  • Effectively implement career plans and provide coaching to clients on site.
  • Effectively communicate with client’s supervisor, identify natural supports in the workplace and equip them to support the client, and create a fade out plan when applicable to client’s needs.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with Service Coordinators, parents/guardians, and home providers.
  • Have a working knowledge of DMH employment codes, and ability to identify which codes are applicable to individuals needs.
  • Complete required daily documentation, including data collection on ISP goals, monthly reports, incident reporting, transportation documentation, and other forms as needed.
