About The Position

Ability and Choice Services, Inc. (ACS) of South Salt Lake, UT is looking to hire a full-time Job Coach / ACRE Certified Employment Specialist. This role involves providing essential direct supported employment services to adults with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include job development, vocational assessments, job site and task analyses, job matches, intensive on-the-job training, fading, and documentation. The Job Coach applies trained methods according to person-centered support plan (PCSP) goals, ensuring successful integration into the work environment and gradually fading dependence. Accurate record-keeping, assisting with transportation when necessary, and collaborating with the team on PCSP development and goal-setting are key. The role also involves providing service recipient work schedules to residential staff, advocating for service recipients, and educating the public, employers, and co-workers about supported employment. The position is in the essential human services field and offers a rewarding experience in supporting people with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

Requirements

  • 18+ years old
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Clean criminal record (no history of abuse, exploitation, or other related offenses on the Medicaid Exclusion list or any felony in the last 10 years)
  • Ability to pass periodic drug testing
  • Good driving record and reliable personal transportation
  • Obtain/possess a CPR/first aid card, and a local food handlers permit
  • Able to use and operate a laptop and smart phone (company issued)
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
  • A heart for serving people with developmental disabilities
  • Able to present a professional appearance appropriate for a variety of 3rd party employment environments
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Able to keep track of multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Conscientious about following policies and procedures and discreet with confidential information
  • Calm and patient

  • ACRE SE certification or obtain the certification within 45 days through paid self paced and instructor led remote learning

Responsibilities

  • Provide essential direct supported employment services to adults with disabilities.
  • Participate in job development, vocational assessments, job site & task analyses, job matches, intensive on-the-job training, fading, and documentation.
  • Apply job coaching methods in accordance with the goals and objectives of the person-centered support plan (PCSP) or team objectives.
  • Ensure successful integration into the work environment, gradually fading dependence after placement.
  • Keep clear, accurate, and up-to-date records at all times.
  • Assist in transportation when necessary.
  • Participate in the development of the person-centered support plan (PCSP) and goal-setting process.
  • Maintain open and honest communications with the Supported Employment Director.
  • Provide each service recipient's work schedule to the residential staff and coordinators.
  • Advocate for the best interests of the service recipient, behaving in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  • Educate the public, employers, co-workers, and the general public about supported employment.
  • Work to improve and update job coaching methods.
