About The Position

MCAR, Inc. has been the leading provider of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1952. We promote human rights, provide residential services and create employment opportunities for those with disabilities. We are seeking dedicated Job Coach who want to help us continue to provide services that improve the quality of life for people with special needs in Mercer County.

Requirements

  • Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university, or a high school diploma and one (1) year of work experience in industry or rehabilitation or a general education certificate, and one (1) year of work experience in industry or rehabilitation.
  • Successful completion of ACRE approved required training within six (6) months of hire
  • Ability to work effectively with people and aid them to grow in the constructive use of their potential in adjusting to their specific problems or disability
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Individuals
  • Basic knowledge of developmental disabilities and its social and emotional impact
  • Knowledge of basic skills pertaining to woodworking and construction
  • Ability to make sound judgement regarding the health and safety of persons with developmental disabilities and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, in a variety of individual/staff rations that include, but are not limited to 1:1, 1:3, 1:6, 1:10 settings, depending upon location.
  • Adhere to Community Employment guidelines established by MCAR, Inc. and the Office of Developmental Programs(ODP) in providing direct supervision in 1:1 or 1:3 community settings.
  • Serve as an implementer for individual's goals per annual ISP.
  • Complete computer based charting as necessary.
  • Assist individuals with personal care needs, provide instruction, demonstrations, hands on trainings as needed, counts, records and monitor finished product for quality control.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist with arrival/departure logistics
  • Assist individuals during lunch and breaks times.
