About The Position

The JJYS Technician II - Central Utah Youth Center role involves working closely with youth in the care and custody of JJYS. Responsibilities include monitoring visitors and residents, scheduling and coordinating youth activities, assisting the Control Supervisor with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety. New hires will participate in a one-week new employee training and a one-week de-escalation training within the first 90 days. The role also includes transporting youth and providing a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs while assuring public safety. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.

  • A valid Utah Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
  • Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
  • Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
  • Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
  • Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
  • Transport Youth
  • Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety.
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
