About The Position

Hillel of Colorado (Hillel) seeks a 15 hour/week contract employee beginning July 1, to serve as Mines Hillel Jewish Student Life Director. In this role, the Jewish Student Life Director will empower students to craft and implement strategies that engage and support diverse and pluralistic Jewish student life on the Mines Hillel campus. As Director, you will be the primary relationship-builder growing Jewish student life at Mines Hillel and will work closely with the Mines Hillel student leaders and Hillel of Colorado Assistant Director to identify opportunities cultivate potential Hillel students. This role is critical to building a sustainable, student-led Hillel at the Colorado School of Mines. Our Hillel, one of over 500+ North American affiliates of Hillel International and an independent 501(c)3, is a multi-campus Jewish student engagement organization that strengthens college students’ connections to Jewish life by providing programs and engagement opportunities in our warm, welcoming homes-away-from-home for 2,000+ Jewish college students and their friends in Colorado. Requirements

  • 1-3 years of work experience is required.
  • Demonstrated success working with students or teenagers and advocating for Jewish life engagement; a strong commitment to pluralistic, diverse Jewish life; and success creating and managing a work plan.

Responsibilities

  • Engage students on campus a minimum of 2-3 days a week through one-on-one meetings, small groups, tabling, pop-ups and other planned events.
  • Conduct 5-10 meaningful student interactions per week.
  • Maintain consistent engagement with the Mines Hillel community through GroupMe communication and/or text outreach.
  • Collaborate with the student leaders to identify and cultivate Hillel students, increasing the number of those who participate in Hillel events on campus.
  • Along with the Assistant Director of Hillel of Colorado, develop strategies to engage a diverse and pluralistic Hillel population.
  • Support development of student leaders who take ownership of their own community and aspects of Hillel programming.
  • Document and track student engagement using Hillel’s metric tools and assist us in connecting families to our mission.
  • Represent Hillel of Colorado’s values on campus and in the community as you cultivate a spirit of open and pluralistic Jewish life on the Mines campus.
  • Serve as a key connector between Hillel and campus faculty, staff, and partners to increase visibility and support for Jewish student life.
  • Ensure the planning and execution of Shabbat, holiday, learning, and social programs that are consistent, meaningful, and student-driven.
