About The Position

The Jet press Operator's primary responsibility is the make-ready and operation of the offset envelope presses. This role involves setting up presses to desired specifications, inspecting product visually, maintaining accurate counts, unpacking envelopes, placing envelopes onto press feeds, and checking orders throughout production to ensure accurate labeling, printing, and packing. The operator will also be responsible for removing paper jams, performing preventative maintenance, and adjusting ink and water roller pressures. Additional responsibilities include completing assignments from the Press Production Manager, adhering to company values, policies, and safety procedures, and completing compliance training.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Detail-oriented and display strong initiative
  • Basic understanding and use of computers and related software/databases
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects up to 25 lbs. in weight
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
  • Employees are on their feet for extended periods of time and moving constantly.
  • Constant handling of direct mail product
  • Frequent reaching outwards or above the shoulders.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up of presses to desired specifications prior to starting job.
  • Properly inspect product visually by separating envelopes.
  • Maintain accurate counts of envelopes to boxes, cartons, and skids.
  • Unpack envelopes uniformly and neatly while keeping up with the speed of presses.
  • Place envelopes onto press feeds.
  • Proper checking of order throughout course of production to ensure accurate labeling, printing, and packing of finished product.
  • Remove paper jams and perform preventative maintenance on presses when scheduled.
  • Adjust ink and water roller pressures on presses as needed.
  • Maintain the work area.
  • Completes additional assignments and special projects from the Press Production Manager as needed.
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with DMS values and the Code of Conduct.
  • Learns and adheres to all information technology and data security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Learns and adheres to DMS rules and established policies for workplace health and safety.
  • Adheres to all other DMS policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required compliance training on time and in good faith.
