This SkillBridge fellowship opportunity with Pratt & Whitney is for transitioning U.S. military service members seeking experience in the aerospace and defense industry. Fellows gain an in-depth understanding of the business through training and mentorship from industry leaders and engineers. Fellows remain under the administrative control of their military chain of command and continue to receive military pay and benefits; they are not RTX employees and receive no compensation or company employee benefits during the fellowship. After successful completion, fellows are encouraged to apply for open positions at RTX. Under the direction of a leader or supervisor, the fellow learns to prepare parts and build subassemblies, modules, and accessories for new gas turbine engines using assembly drawings, specifications, computer information systems, and established tooling and processes. The role also involves assisting with engine test operations and component and accessory tests, performing mechanical overhaul work on engines and related components, checking parts and component fit and dimensions, using hand tools and specialized equipment, and maintaining tooling and equipment. Work is onsite in Middletown, Connecticut, on an alternate workweek schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; training on first shift may be required.
