Java Software Engineer – Spring Boot Modernization
About The Position
Ctrl+ is hiring a Java Software Engineer to modernize a mission-critical enterprise application and help shape its future architecture. The role involves moving a Java system from a traditional Tomcat deployment to a cloud-native architecture using Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes. The position is on-site in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; Ctrl+ does not sponsor new clearances or clearance upgrades. Applicants must live within commuting distance, and regular on-site attendance is required. Some roles may allow limited telework, but this is not a fully remote position. The engineer will develop and maintain Java and Angular applications, build REST APIs and service integrations, and develop data access for relational databases. The role also supports application modernization, CI/CD, automated testing, technical documentation, and backup database administration. Approximate pay is $77.88–$85.99 per hour, excluding the employer’s 401(k) contribution. Actual hourly pay depends on qualifications, experience, and the selected compensation model. Compensation models include Max Rate, With Bonus, and With Bonus and PTO; PTO and bonuses depend on the selected model and role eligibility.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Applicants must currently hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Java enterprise development experience with Spring Boot or a similar framework.
- Experience with Angular or similar front-end frameworks.
- RESTful API design experience.
- Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or similar databases.
- Experience with Docker or Podman.
- Experience with containerized applications on Kubernetes.
- Application modernization experience.
- Technical documentation experience.
- Must live within commuting distance of the listed work location and meet the in-person work requirement.
Nice To Haves
- Tomcat to Spring Boot migration experience.
