About The Position

This role is for a Java Full Stack Support Engineer responsible for resolving high-performance and scalable problems related to order fulfillment for millions of customers. The engineer will proactively and reactively identify root causes of issues, utilizing automation and utilities. Reporting to the Production Support Manager, this position involves collaboration with Engineering, Product, Business, and other technical teams and stakeholders, as well as global customers across various e-commerce domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Experience supporting services using back end technologies (Java, Spring,)
  • Excellent programming skills using Java/J2EE, XML/ JSON, XSL, JMS, RESTful web services.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL/NoSQL and database technologies (Oracle, Cassandra, Cosmos)
  • Scripting skills in at least one of the following: Perl, Python, Shell, Bash, or Ruby
  • Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast-paced start-up like environment

Responsibilities

  • Support Java full stack backend application system components in a massively scalable, high performance, multi-tenant, international eCommerce platform in a Java EE and Oracle environment, root causing every reactive/proactive production issues.
  • Support e-commerce multi-channel fulfillment applications for highly scalable multi-tenant platforms, driving critical (high/medium/low) issues to closure, working with multiple relevant stakeholders (Business/Eng./Product/DBAs, etc.), understanding the priority of end-customer impacting incidents, with less supervision.
  • Triage IBM MQ, Kafka, DB contention issues & solve them quickly, in order management flows.
  • Query related Sterling tables quickly & voluntarily, along with finding problematic process agents.
  • Act as SME to peers and be flexible to support critical production issues.
  • Collaborate with team and management to define and drive technical strategy and architecture direction for the e-commerce platform.
  • Automate / contribute to develop the framework/util/scripting to save manual efforts of the support team wherever and whenever necessary, especially with bulk order reprocessing.
  • Seamlessly switch to a hands-on seasoned developer as needed.
  • Identify & follow-up with the Engineering team for root-caused Sterling order flow issues in the production cloud environment.
  • Propose/Assist in solving code/config issues in the next generation of e-commerce, an integrated experience that leverages the store and the web to sell anything, to anyone, anywhere in the world.
  • Provide expertise in Supply Chain & OMS in supporting interface issues/decisions related to Supply Chain and Fulfillment applications of Walmart’s next generation global platform.
  • Assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements/issues and provide appropriate short & long term solutions and recommend alternative approaches wherever necessary.
  • Drive decisions in a multi-team cross-geography environment.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in Web / e-commerce / supply chain related technologies to determine relevance and possible impact to existing systems, recommending out-of-box engineering best practices.
