About The Position

The Java Developer is an early-career position responsible for supporting the development and implementation of application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities under guidance from senior team members.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience with Java development and enterprise Java technologies
  • Working knowledge of Java 8/11/17+ including functional programming, streams, lambdas, and modern Java features
  • Proficiency in Java EE frameworks and specifications
  • Experience with Spring Framework ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security)
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design and implementation
  • Working knowledge of ORM frameworks (Hibernate, JPA) and database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, or NoSQL)
  • Exposure to messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS) and event-driven architectures
  • Understanding of design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices
  • Experience with build tools (Maven, Gradle) and dependency management
  • Proficiency in unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, TestNG) and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Familiarity with application servers (Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss)
  • Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming paradigms
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket, GitHub)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
  • Awareness of code quality tools (SonarQube, Checkmarx)
  • Understanding of performance optimization and scalability principles
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to support the integration of functions to meet project goals and assist in identifying system enhancements for new products and process improvements
  • Support resolution of technical problems and projects through evaluation of business processes, system processes, and industry standards
  • Apply knowledge of applications programming and ensure code adheres to established architecture standards and best practices
  • Follow established standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation under supervision
  • Develop understanding of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
  • Contribute to analysis and problem-solving activities to support innovative solutions
  • Work collaboratively with team members and seek guidance from senior developers and analysts
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
