Java Developer I Financial Services I Cloud Native Applications
About The Position
The Java Developer will design, develop, and support cloud-native applications across strategic financial services business workstreams. The role focuses on hands-on development with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and at least one major cloud platform: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Microsoft Azure. The developer will build scalable, high-performance enterprise applications, develop APIs and event-driven solutions, and support distributed systems. Financial services experience and practical coding and application development capabilities are required. The position also involves database-driven development, CI/CD and containerization, application modernization, and collaboration with business, product, engineering, DevOps, and cloud engineering stakeholders. The developer will participate in Agile/Scrum activities and support enterprise application development across commercial banking programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant education, as applicable.
- 4–7 years of relevant software development experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with the required technical stack for the applicable role level.
- Strong hands-on Java development experience, preferably with Java 8, Java 11, or Java 17.
- Experience with Python.
- Strong Spring Boot and microservices development experience.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or Azure SQL.
- Strong understanding of API design.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
- Financial services experience is mandatory.
- Demonstrated hands-on coding and application development experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting cloud migration and modernization programs.
- Experience developing event-driven applications using Kafka and/or Pub/Sub.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-scale applications using Java, including Java 8, Java 11, and Java 17.
- Develop and enhance applications using Spring Boot and build scalable, maintainable microservices.
- Use Python where required for application development and supporting solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, reusable, high-quality code and troubleshoot application-level issues.
- Design and develop microservices-based applications and build and maintain REST APIs and other application interfaces.
- Apply API design principles and best practices.
- Implement event-driven architecture and distributed-system solutions, including messaging and integrations using Kafka and Google Pub/Sub.
- Ensure applications meet scalability, reliability, and performance requirements.
- Design, develop, and deploy applications on GCP, AWS, or Azure, supporting strategic financial services programs.
- Support application modernization and cloud transformation initiatives and leverage cloud services to build scalable, resilient applications.
- Work with BigQuery and cloud-based data solutions where applicable.
- Develop and maintain database-driven applications using PostgreSQL and/or Azure SQL.
- Build data-intensive application components, support data integration and processing using BigQuery where applicable, and optimize database queries and application performance.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes.
- Support automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes and collaborate with DevOps and cloud engineering teams.
- Collaborate with business, product, and engineering stakeholders to develop solutions aligned with financial services business requirements.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities and support enterprise application development across commercial banking programs.
- Ensure technical solutions meet business, performance, and reliability expectations.
