About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Java Application Architect to architect, design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications and distributed systems operating at significant scale across multiple business domains. The role covers the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, from translating business requirements into technical designs and writing production-quality code to deploying cloud-native services and supporting them throughout their operational lifespan. The position calls for deep backend expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem, along with hands-on experience building responsive, component-driven front-end applications with modern JavaScript frameworks. The architect will collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, and developers in an Agile environment to deliver secure, performant applications that support business outcomes. This is a full-time, direct W2 position that is 100% remote within the United States, with an annual salary range of $100,000–$150,000. The employer is unable to sponsor new H-1B visa petitions; U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • At least five years of professional software development experience building production-grade enterprise applications; the job overview also lists six or more years of experience required.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, computational complexity, and end-to-end system design principles.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Java 11 and 17, Spring Boot, and clean, idiomatic RESTful API design.
  • Production-level experience designing and operating microservices architectures, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and observability patterns.
  • Experience developing front-end applications using React.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server, including query tuning and schema design.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and Git-based version control workflows, including branching strategies, code reviews, and release management.
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including familiarity with managed services, networking, and identity primitives.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills, including methodical investigation and clear documentation of findings.

Nice To Haves

  • Working familiarity with Angular or Vue.
  • Experience designing and operating event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Exposure to distributed systems principles such as eventual consistency, CAP trade-offs, idempotency, and saga patterns.
  • Experience writing automation tests using modern frameworks and contributing to test-driven and behavior-driven development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and refine scalable microservices using Java 11 or 17 and Spring Boot, ensuring independent deployability, observability, and alignment with enterprise architecture.
  • Write secure, well-tested, production-quality code that follows coding standards and design patterns, and applies security principles such as input validation, authentication, and encryption at rest and in transit.
  • Develop responsive, component-based front-end applications using React or equivalent frameworks, with attention to user experience, accessibility, browser compatibility, and desktop and mobile performance.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations, defining service contracts, versioning strategies, and error-handling semantics.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions and assess trade-offs involving scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Profile and optimize application performance, database queries, JVM tuning parameters, and API throughput; identify bottlenecks through measurement and implement targeted improvements.
  • Implement and maintain state management patterns such as Redux, Context API, or equivalents for complex front-end applications.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, contract, and functional tests using frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Jest, and Cypress.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Identify bottlenecks, technical debt, and architectural weaknesses, and drive remediation through refactoring proposals, technical design documents, and engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, deployment guides, and runbooks.
