About The Position

Penn State is searching for a full time Janitorial Worker (Behrend) - Grade 10 to join the team. This role involves collecting waste, cleaning various surfaces and fixtures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the security of the work area by locking doors and windows and turning off lights. The Janitorial Worker will also be responsible for reporting any needed repairs to their Supervisor.

Requirements

• Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required.
• Up to and including 3 months of effective experience.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Collect waste from work area
• Wash chalkboards
• Gather dirty erasers and supply clean erasers
• Dust, dust mop floors
• Wet mop floors
• Spot clean and vacuum rugs, runners, etc.
• Rotate runners and clean stairways
• Wash glass, mirrors, light fixtures, wainscoting, railings, toilet fixtures, etc.
• Clean restrooms and stock dispensers
• Wash and polish furniture, brass, etc.
• Maintain equipment and materials used to perform work in a clean and orderly condition
• Lock doors, close and lock windows, and turn out lights
• Report needed repairs to Supervisor
