About The Position

We are looking for a Janitorial Team Lead to support the Operations Manager with daily duties out in the field. This role involves supervising 5 field grounds workers and requires strong hospitality skills. The ideal candidate must be talkative and able to engage with the public outdoors all day. Experience leading a team of 5 or more is required. Open availability and weekend availability are mandatory. A CA Driver's License with a clean driving record is essential, including the ability to drive a truck in all types of weather. Candidates should expect to be walking and standing in the field for 8 hours a day.

  • Experience with Leading a team of 5 or more is required.
  • Prior managerial/supervisory experience
  • Special project/Maintenance background - fixing banners, pressure washers, and operating other machines
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have the physical capacity to traverse continuously during an eight hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen minutes, and one thirty minute meal break).
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more when needed.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
  • Basic knowledge of smart phone technology
  • Must be proficient in computer usage and in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Managing shift duties of the clean and safe ambassadors while ensuring compliance with all Block by Block standards, best practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Being fair and holding the team responsible for completing projects and remaining productive.
  • Communicating and leading daily shift briefings while assigning duties and zones, reviewing events, weather, and safety updates to Ambassadors.
  • Providing excellent customer service in the BID and towards the team of Ambassadors.
  • Provide guidance and direction for the on-street and in the field operations.
  • Provide written reports of broken infrastructure, graffiti on private property, and provide a basic daily report of accomplishments and tasks completed.
  • Provide direction and counsel to team members and report concerns to the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism.
