About The Position

Guardian Proservices is seeking a consistently hard-working, Janitor Custodial Specialist based out of Laguardia International Airport New York who is committed to reliable quality service and customer relationships. Guardian Professional Services is looking for someone who is energetic, detail oriented, motivated and able to work independently or in a team. This role involves providing a safe and clean environment to various airline passengers by performing general cleaning duties in designated areas as needed. This is a great opportunity to work for a fast-growing company that is currently recruiting experienced Janitorial staff.

Requirements

Working experience of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities is a MUST.
Must have good listening and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to speak English and Spanish.
Must maintain a neat appearance. A uniform is required at some worksites.
Must attend periodic training and safety meetings.
Must be able to understand and anticipate the needs of the clients.
Must be punctual.
3-5 years of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.
Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Knowledge in airport operation cleaning (preferred).

Responsibilities

Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
Dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures, sometimes using ladders.
Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
Removes stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
Performs other incidental seasonal tasks.
Dusts and washes walls, windows, ledges, cleans ceilings and dusts, removes trash, heavy lifting up to 50lbs, sometimes using ladders.
Applies protection applications to walls, floors, and equipment, and removes them.
Maintains all types of floor areas through the process of stripping/refinishing hard surface floors and shampooing carpeted areas.
Labels chemicals correctly, operates chemical dispensing units, and measures chemicals correctly.
Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, reporting all problems to the supervisor.
Shampoos assigned carpeted areas.
Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
Follows all safety and sanitation regulations, reporting problems to the shift supervisor.
Empties waste baskets and replaces liners.
Dusts/cleans tops of office furniture.
Vacuums all carpeting.
Spot cleans soiled areas on carpets as needed.
Sweeps and mops tile areas.
Wipes/cleans vending machines and appliances.
Cleans sink and counter areas.
Keeps janitor’s closet neat and orderly.
Maintains equipment (such as vacuums) properly at all times.
