About The Position

The Janitorial Lead Worker is responsible for supervision, training, and supporting individuals with disabilities and disadvantages in a custodial program. This role ensures that all assigned staff and participants develop appropriate work habits, job skills, and positive social behaviors while maintaining full compliance with contract requirements at BAFB Custodial site. This position also oversees part-time and Full-time employees and is accountable for quality control, productivity, safety, and documentation at the BAFB Custodial Contract site.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Be able to be certified and perform CPR and First Aid
  • Excellent instructional and supervisory skills in custodial operations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to maintain adult-to-adult relationships
  • Ability to assess physical, behavioral, social, and vocational strengths and needs
  • Knowledge of custodial operations, safety procedures, emergency procedures, and equipment
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations using decimals and fractions
  • Proficient in quality control and custodial productivity management
  • Ability to document progress and maintain accurate records
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to intervene in behavioral situations
  • Understanding of person-centered planning and normalized, adult interactions
  • Ability to work with individuals with disabilities in a respectful, supportive manner
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment operation and maintenance
  • Understanding of cleaning chemical safety and proper usage
  • Valid Louisiana driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle report
  • Documentation of satisfactory criminal background check and successfully passing a pre-employment drug screening test

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience of working with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • Experience in custodial/janitorial operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, instruction, and support to participants and custodial staff
  • Assign tasks based on individual abilities, desires, progress, and service plan goals
  • Provide firsthand training in custodial procedures and equipment operation
  • Be attuned to the total work environment to intervene and prevent quarreling or disruptive/dangerous behaviors from erupting
  • Assist participants as necessary with problems associated with eating, toileting and similar personal needs
  • Perform monitoring duties outside and indoors as assigned by Program Manager
  • Assist with the assessment of each client's physical, behavioral, social, and vocational strengths and needs
  • Assist QIDP's with the development of individual program plans; implement program plans of assigned participants; ensure that strategies are utilized and the results are documented
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports
  • Submit incident reports to the QIDP's for each significant incident that affects any participants well-being or program plan
  • Conduct frequent quality checks on custodial work being performed
  • Inspect all completed work prior to departing building to ensure contract specifications are met
  • Work with Contract Coordinators to maintain Lead Worker's notebook with task codes and quotas.
  • Check task descriptions periodically to make sure methods have not changed
  • Ensure that each job/task is laid out in the most efficient manner to reduce worker fatigue and increase productivity
  • Be able to perform any custodial task/function that is normally assigned to participants/employee or staff
  • Follow supervisor's instructions regarding work methods, quality standards, and production schedules
  • Maintain daily pay data on each employee for submission to the Project Manager
  • Conduct time studies on clients paid on regular hourly basis each pay period. Document on pay data sheet
  • Submit accident reports to the Contract Coordinator
  • Maintain accurate records
