About The Position

The Janitorial Associate is responsible for keeping common areas of the store clean and serviceable for customers and associates. The role performs routine cleaning and maintenance throughout the store, including bathrooms, shopping carts, cart-return areas, sidewalks, trash receptacles, shelves, fixtures, and windows. The associate uses general cleaning equipment and chemicals, follows personal protective equipment, safety, food-safety, cleaning, and guest-experience guidelines, and may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. The work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. The associate stands and walks for extended periods and may frequently bend, stoop, twist, and turn. The role may require lifting or moving up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
Good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
Good customer-service and organizational skills; detail oriented.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing and walking for extended periods; frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning; lifting or moving up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Dust shelves and fixtures, clean windows, and sweep or vacuum as needed.
Assist with bottle-room machine maintenance and empty and return full bins.
Clean bathrooms daily by sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing sinks and toilets, and refilling paper toiletries.
Sanitize shopping carts.
Maintain the cleanliness of the cart-return area and return items left behind to the shelves.
Sweep sidewalks free of clutter, trash, and debris; remove ice or snow during colder temperatures as needed.
Use brooms, mops, a floor scrubber, dusters, general store-cleaning equipment, and chemicals.
Empty indoor and outdoor trash cans as needed.
Follow all PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest-experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer-experience needs.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
