About The Position

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment. This role supports production by ensuring work areas, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas meet company cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping standards. The Janitor plays a key role in supporting 5S, safety initiatives, and maintaining a professional workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms throughout each shift.
  • Empty trash throughout the facility, including offices, cafeteria, bathrooms, shop floor, and external trash bins.
  • Sweep and scrub production floors utilizing floor scrubber, as assigned.
  • Vacuum and clean office areas, conference rooms, and break rooms.
  • Clean windows, glass doors, and entrance areas.
  • Dust surfaces, furniture, lockers, and equipment where applicable.
  • Maintain cleanliness of cafeterias and vending areas.
  • Wipe down guard rails.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in production aisles.
  • Remove cardboard, plastic, and other debris from production areas.
  • Support production teams by keeping walkways clear.
  • Assist with spill cleanup following proper environmental procedures.
  • Maintain designated waste collection areas.
  • Follow all PPE requirements.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions.
  • Clean spills promptly to eliminate slip hazards.
  • Maintain emergency exits free from obstruction.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and emergency equipment remain accessible.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout requirements when necessary.
  • Handle chemicals according to SDS requirements.
  • Support plant-wide 5S initiatives.
  • Keep all assigned areas organized.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is properly stored.
  • Participate in scheduled 5S audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workplace organization.
  • Collect and properly dispose of general waste, recyclables, cardboard, plastic, and scrap materials (as directed).
  • Transport waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Monitor dumpster levels and notify supervision when pickups are needed.
  • Safely operate floor scrubbers, floor sweepers, vacuums, pressure washers (where applicable), and trash compactors.
  • Perform daily inspections of cleaning equipment.
  • Report damaged equipment immediately.
  • Monitor cleaning supply inventory.
  • Notify supervision of low inventory.
  • Properly store chemicals and cleaning materials.
  • Maintain organized janitorial closets.
  • Complete assigned cleaning schedule.
  • Respond to housekeeping requests promptly.
  • Support special cleaning projects.
  • Communicate issues to supervision.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean appearance throughout the facility.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Meet company housekeeping standards.
  • Support audit readiness at all times.
  • Help maintain customer tour readiness.
  • Work safely at all times.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Report hazards immediately.
  • Follow all environmental and chemical handling procedures.
  • Never bypass safety procedures.
  • Promote a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
